Sustainability Partners: From Aimlessly Lost in the Corporate Culture to Discovering My Real Purpose and Passion

By Alliance Sustainablity Partner Sarah Rivera from Kipero Marketing

I’d like to share a story about my being lost and how I found my way out on both a physical level, and more importantly, on a soul level. My life was transformed as I found my true purpose and made it my life’s work. I’d love to take you along for the ride and give you a special offer that I hope will transform you and your organization as well.

A few years ago, I got lost. Not in a figurative or esoteric sense. I was driving along some very steep, very curvy and very narrow country roads and I was most definitely lost. And the real bad news? I didn’t have my phone on me so I couldn’t GPS my way out.

I got nervous as one does when this type of situation hits. I could feel the tension in my hands as I gripped the steering wheel hard. As though grabbing onto this inanimate object would someone help me channel a way home.

I felt hot. Negative thoughts started to bombard my brain. “Where are you?” “Should you take that road?” “How about the next one?” I started to sweat and my vision narrowed. All I could see in front of me was a narrow black strip of asphalt cutting between dense, thick forest. All I could think about was how I didn’t know where I was and I didn’t know how to get back.

When Following All the Best Career Advice Leads You Off Your Path

I’m here writing to you today so, obviously, I made it back. I took several wrong turns. I had to back up my bulky minivan in some very tight spaces more than once. And I actually had to stop and ask someone for help.

When I got home from that experience, I recognized that the feelings I experienced in my minivan that day were not unlike the feelings I was experiencing every day.

I had built a business. I had actual paying clients. I was living in a beautiful, tropical location. I had wonderful, loving relationships with my immediate and extended family. Everything was lovely. Kind of.

There was literally nothing in my life that I felt I should be complaining about.

Except for the fact that I was lost… Completely and utterly lost.

You Are Not the Only Lost Soul Out There

Turns out I was not alone. I reluctantly brought up this feeling at a business master mind meeting in which I regularly participate.

Afterwards, several other people contacted me privately to mention that they had the same feelings. They had spent a lot of time, energy and resources climbing a ladder which they now realized might be placed against the wrong building. Like me, society, family and culture were all telling them they were on the “right” path, but a tiny voice inside of them was (annoyingly) insisting that they were not.

My advice? Listen to the little voice.

The Still, Small Voice that Led Me Back

That little voice is how Kipero Marketing was born. At the time of my realization, I was running a vibrant and growing marketing agency. We helped small to midsize companies produce very successful campaigns promoting everything from private schools to pest control to dog shampoo.

And hear me out. There is absolutely nothing wrong with promoting private schools and pest control and dog shampoo.

It was just wrong for me.

All my life I had wanted to do something for the planet and its ecosystems. But I was always putting that off for “later” for “when I had enough money saved” for “blah, blah, blah.” And here I was, in my forties, and I had barely lifted a finger towards that dream.

Something New Emerges

With Kipero, I wanted to do something different. I wanted to combine my talents and skills in the world of marketing with my desire to “put a dent in climate change.” I knew there were thousands of organizations and companies out there with the same goals and my goal became enlarging their megaphone to get their message out to more people and increase their impact.

Luckily, I wasn’t the only one interested in this type of work.

Soon after launching, Tania and Annie, both experts in digital marketing themselves, came on board. They too were feeling lost. They too knew that this was part of their mission.

We Offer Help for Those Who Care about Sustainability

Since our launch in late 2023, we have helped sustainability-focused nonprofit and for-profit organizations expand their reach and impact. We have worked with clients promoting physical products to high-end eco- and wellness retreats to greenhouses that are free of bee-killing pesticides.

Despite being incredibly busy serving clients in the sustainability and wellness space, we allow all of our employees to take up to 5 paid hours out of their workweek to serve as volunteers for any sustainability-focused nonprofit they wish. Our volunteer experiences have nurtured and inspired us just as much as our clients.

Get Back On Your Own True Path

So, let me ask you this…

Do you feel lost? Does your organization feel lost? Do you have a great product or message that you KNOW other people need to hear, but don’t know how to get out there? Are you on social media trying to figure out the algorithms and just hoping for a viral miracle?

In the world of digital marketing, are you lost?

If so, you’re not alone. And the help you need is available. As a Sustainability Partner with Alliance for Sustainability, we’re offering any reader of Transformative Sustainability or referral from a reader the opportunity for not one, but two FREE no-obligation consultations. This is not us trying to sell you. It’s us looking to serve you.

We’ll take the time over two 30-minute sessions to really understand your organization and challenges. We’ll then come back to you with our best advice and knowledge. We are also offering a powerful group session where you can learn from not only us, but other amazing sustainability-focused organizations as well.

Whether you choose to work with us or not, you’ll walk away from the call or group session with your next steps already lined up for you. There is no obligation and you might just unlock the next part of the map to get yourself and your organization “unlost.”

What do you say?

Willing to give us a shot?

We’re here for you.

Sincerely,

Sarah Rivera
