The goals of Xcel Energy’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) are mostly consistent with Fresh Energy MN’s goals: 80% reduction in carbon use by 2030, 100% reduction by 2050, and elimination of coal use by 2030.
However, Fresh Energy MN still has some concerns with the details of the IRP: the planned construction of a new gas plant in Becker, Minnesota; the absence of energy justice concerns; and the projections for energy demand and infrastructure requirements.
