Recently I encountered two people – a psychologist, and a physicist – who describe being in an ongoing dialogue with extraterrestrials. Neither focused on the beings from other realms, but instead on the messages they are receiving. At first I was slightly amused, then intrigued – and ultimately, inspired. Here’s what’s stayed with me, and how I’ve applied it to my distress about our world. I recognized the messages as perennial truths I’ve heard and trusted throughout my life. The insights are not new – but they are timely and encouraging. Evidently the “messengers from other dimensions” know that this is a time of crisis for us, and they are bathing the earth in reminders to return to our native wisdom and innate resilience. We are invited to recognize that each of us is a unique expression of the life force, arising out of the whole like a wave rising out of the ocean. The ocean itself – sometimes called Source Intelligence, or Divine Love, or even God – is always available to calm us, guide us, uplift us, and carry us beyond our limitations. We are part of that Source exactly to the same degree as everyone else – and so we can find shared understanding, motivation and compassion there. We can open at any moment to our connection with Source. We can invite inspiration, and then consciously “blend” our energies with what is revealed. In the same way that shadows appear in the presence of brilliant sunlight, we can see where we are blocked from full illumination. Sometimes we notice limiting beliefs, or feelings, or judgments of ourselves or others. It’s important to see these, because in seeing what holds us back, we have the opportunity to understand our own participation. Once we glimpse them, we can choose to let these limitations go – and instead, align with Love. Using our free will in this way is central to how we learn on this planet. We must choose awareness and compassion again and again, if evolution and wholeness are what we want. As I practice this, I see that polarities within me, and polarization between us all, can melt in the presence of open heartedness. We can use any methods we find appealing to help us expand. We might meditate, pray, sing, breathe, dance or do yoga. We might spend time in nature gardening, hiking, or on the water. We might express our discoveries through journaling, discussion, art, nonviolent communication, or service. We can act in the world through electoral politics, movements, organizations, affinity groups, and daily opportunities. The Source consciousness is radiating encouragement and confidence in our ability to embody our deepest intentions, Astonishingly, apparently in other realms there is optimism about our progress. While we may be appalled as we watch the news, listen to elected officials, and see violence in our communities, others recognize a less dramatic but steadily growing new awareness. Those of us reading this article, and others who share our aspirations, are urged to trust in our vast, invisible companionship. We can find ways to be true to our ideals, without hardening into fear, or hatred. We are reassured that the spreading darkness we see is actually shadows of ignorance, becoming visible in the dawning light of who we truly are. Sound too easy, hopeful, or simplistic? I would have thought so – until I engaged these perspectives moment to moment. I still see evidence of my concerns for our world, but my heart is lightened, my perspective brightened, and my energy renewed. I feel more curious, and alert to opportunity, synchronicity, and assistance. I am leaning into the support of the entire universe.
