At the Alliance for Sustainability we’ve been seeking to respond to the new world we’re in, including the the unprecedented challenges from COVID-19, the economy, climate change, threats to our democracy and the murder of George Floyd and so many other people of color.

We want to share some exciting new directions about how we can respond and address the urgent need for sustainability, including equity, health, regeneration and kindness.  We hope you will join with us in co-creating this future.

For almost half of our nearly forty years the Alliance has been leading efforts to create sustainable communities. During the last three years we’ve focused on Resilient Cities and Communities (RCC). RCC has grown to the point we are excited to announce the launch of RCC as a separate new nonprofit with leadership from the 50 cities we’ve been working with and our former Executive Director Sean Gosiewski and Board Chair Jennifer Munt.

At the same time, the Alliance “re-visioning” has recognized the urgent need to dramatically scale sustainability and bring fundamental systems change in everything from equity, education, and the economy to the environment, health and democracy. Consequently, we are returning to our roots and setting a bold, new course of co-creating a holistic view of sustainability. Gandhi said we need to be the change we want to see in the world through our personal behavior and actions. We believe we must also grow and collaborate to build a diverse, inclusive and powerful alliance of more than one million individuals and groups that can address key strategic tipping points in all institutions and policy.

We invite you to help realize our dreams of resilience and sustainability by becoming a member and supporting the Alliance. We hope you will decide to be part of our extended family and make a profound difference with your involvement and financial contribution.

This week you have a special opportunity to take the first step through Give to the Max (GiveMN). Please consider supporting our efforts by reading the information below and clicking on the links.

Our mission of co-creating sustainability on a personal, organizational and planetary level is being furthered by exciting new developments taking place over the next month. We’ve developed an exciting new partnership with Inclusivi-tee (https://inclusivi-tee.com/), a public benefit business that’s totally aligned with us. We’ve just done our first weekly half-hour podcast, “Inclusivi-tee TALKS Sustainability: Creativity, Health, Equity and Kindness (www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p7VYEXANBo&feature=youtu.be).

We’ve also partnered on a fabulous new book, You Can Save the World by Alliance Board member Lori Myren-Manbeck. We’re included in the book and will receive 10% of the profits. The eBook version will be released in Mid-December, just in time for giving as holiday gifts. And the actual book will be out during Earth month.

In the coming month we’ll also launch our updated website, share our Declaration of Co-Creation and Interdependence, announce several workshops and hold two Town Hall Forums to hear your perspectives.

In addition, we’re seeking to diversify our movement by hiring a part-time Executive Director and Executive Organizer. We’ll soon be posting job descriptions. And we’ll expand our efforts to inform and inspire individual and joint actions through a Campaign for Sustainability, Health, Equity and Kindness (aka, SHE Kindness). We’ll engage our members, create a viral video, utilize media and collaborate with our partners on policy. We welcome your involvement and support.

Your generous support of $10 or $25 per month or donation of $50, $100, $250, $500 or any amount that is comfortable will seed and steward the evolution of our work. Along with your donation we invite you to share our news with ten of your friends!

We welcome your questions, feedback and involvement. And we’re looking forward to working together to co-create the world of our dreams.

With Appreciation, Sustainability, Health, Equity and Kindness,

Terry Gips, Co-Founder and President
